Minutes of the meeting of Factories Investigating Committee, comprised of senators, assemblymen and witnesses, held in City Hall, 1911, regarding reasons for fires in various types of factories; the Jackson Engine Co. No. 1 in Astoria, Queens, 1869-1882; the Astoria and Long Island City Engine Co. No. 1, Queens, 1889-1891; and the Board of Merit, established to determine the efficiency of members of the Fire Department and to confer awards, 1919-1925. Also included is a list of the location of fire alarm boxes and signals in Brooklyn and Queens, 1899-1900.
